The first Unitarians lived in the Transylvania region of the Hungarian Empire during the Reformation. Spurred by Bishop Ferenc David with the support of King John Sigismund they abandoned the Catholic doctrine of the Trinity and worshipped "one God." When the King died the new ruler imprisoned Bishop David for heresy but he refused to recant. This anthem tells the story. SATB w. piano. Level of difficulty: high. Duration: 5 min.

The original version had the choir singing a cappella half the time. Because this was difficult for our choir I arranged a new version in which a guitar accompanies the choir in those parts.
The third version with piano, trumpet and clarinet accompaniment was arranged for a concert at which orchestral instruments were available but not a guitar. The clarinet takes over the guitar part, somewhat revised, and the trumpet is added to the proclamations about creation of the physical world.
